2012 NECA Excellence Awards State Finalist

New Wave Electrical Contractors Pty Ltd was State Finalist at the Domestic Residence Award at the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Victoria Excellence Awards. The award recognised the Rowville-based company’s implementation of a fully automated C-bus and high-tech electrical installation at a Martha Cove residence.

This home comprises of four Bedrooms all with ensuite, another two separate bathrooms, one triple garage and one double garage, a media room, a rumpus room, two alfresco, an indoor spa, motorised gates, an indoor lift and an outdoor lift to allow Mr Vawdrey access to his private jetty.

New wave aimed to provide Mr Vawdrey with the construction of a user friendly system that will not only enhance the overall value of his home, but that can be enjoyed with the ease of operation, and extra security.

New Wave Electrical had to envision how to best cater for the client’s needs as he is in a wheelchair. In order to accommodate this we redesigned the lighting system to have sensors in majority of the house instead of switches. The installation of automatic doors throughout the house guaranteed our client little to no hassle when moving throughout. We also gave him the ability to close and lock all automatic doors from a switch at his bed.

A special feature sourced and installed by new wave is the TV lift installed in the master bedroom. The television is neatly concealed within the roof cavity when not in use.

The motorized blinds installed by new wave were also sourced by us. These blinds are also controlled through cbus allowing the client to control all blinds from any switch throughout the house. The beauty of these blinds is that they contain built in shutter relays therefore making them not only easier to wire but also cheaper to purchase.

These are only a few of the highlights from this project. There were many more factors that contributed to this job being a challenging and innovative project.

2009 NECA Excellence Awards Winner (State and National)

New Wave Electrical Contractors Pty Ltd took out the Domestic Residence Award at the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Victoria Excellence Awards announced in Melbourne on 10 July.  The award recognised the Rowville-based company’s smart-wired design and high-tech electrical installation at a Chirnside Park home.

The ninety-square family home combines the latest technology and energy saving ideas to have everything that opens and shuts in home electrical, communications and security.  Televisions installed in the children’s bedrooms are wired to PCs and used as monitors.  A television lift is installed in the master bedroom to neatly conceal the television in the roof cavity when not in use.  All television remote controls operate any of the LCD and plasma televisions in the house with access to free-to-air and cable television, as well as security cameras.  High quality audio visual equipment in the home theatre is controlled by a colour touch-screen remote control and there is a multi-room audio installation, including for outside, that ensures access to radio, CD and iPod from anywhere on the property.  Touch screen controls for the integrated smoke and security alarms are centrally located as are the controls for motorised blinds and the sophisticated lighting system.  Solar panels and a range of clever lighting settings result in significant energy savings for the residents.

The extensive project was a great success and demonstrates the innovative technological design capabilities of New Wave Electrical Contractors.  On winning the award, [TITLE] Jeremy Reeves said, “It’s a great honour to be recognised by our industry in this way.  Our team thrived on the challenge to meet the client’s brief and the outcome is a credit to the work of each team member.  We have a very happy client who is making great energy savings and enjoying living in a stunning home as a result.”

The state winners are now automatically eligible for the National Excellence Awards, which will be announced in Melbourne on 26 November 2009.

2006 NECA Excellence Awards Winner

New Wave Electrical Contractors Pty Ltd won electrical industry Small Contracting Business award in year 2006.

The best contractors working on electrical and communications projects throughout Victoria were recognised with Awards of Excellence by peak industry body the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA).  The awards were presented at a gala luncheon, held at the Grand Hyatt, for more than 600 NECA members and industry representatives, where the most outstanding electrical and communications design and installation projects carried out by Victorian contractors were celebrated.

Chief executive officer of NECA Victoria, Philip Green, said the NECA Awards of Excellence showcase the most technically innovative and commercially successful electrical, voice and data projects completed during 2005-06.

The New Wave Electrical Contractors Pty Ltd award-winning project was carried out at the eight factories of Rae-Line, motor and marine trimmers in Kilsyth.  Their managing director, Brett Vorhauer, says he is extremely pleased with the electrical fit out.  "I am sure it will meet all my current needs as well as providing for future requirements, while I gain long-term savings on electricity," he said.  "All aspects of the job were undertaken with the utmost professionalism.”

The award-winning project involved general electrical wiring for machinery, as well as voice, data, heating, cooling and alarm systems.  New Wave Electrical Contractors designed a system to take Rae-Line well into the 21st century, with all their eight factories being controlled from one main point, avoiding the inconvenience and time taken in checking that equipment and lighting is turned on or off.

The New Wave design ensures the factory complex is secure and economical, with no unnecessary equipment or lighting left on when not in use.  The system provides maximum OH&S and ergonomic factors – such as light level sensors for optimum lighting when natural light is reduced.

“Without Jeremy's knowledge of his trade and the available technology my factories would not have been the same," said client, Brett Vorhauer of Rae-Line.
